Eve's Team
Coming soon
Eve
Founder, Jump for Joi
Designer Eve Douglass has passion for children, fashion and art. Having had custody of a 7-year old sexually abused relative, Eve discovered a desire to advocate for children who were unable to do so for themselves. The plight of abused children so moved her, that Eve started designing and producing a children’s fashion show to raise money in support of agencies supporting children in need (this year marks the 22nd annual fashion show). Those agencies include, Project Rock & Hold, Children’s Institute Internation, The Foundation for the Junior Blind, Sickle Cell Disease Research Foundation, and The Minority Aids Project to name a few.
Wanting to make more of a direct impack helping children, Eve founded Jump for Joi Children’s Foundation. She took one sewing machine, fabrics, buttons and trims and began volunteer teaching after school sewing, quilting and arts & crafts at the East 60th Street Community Youth Center. Crack cocaine was an epidemic in the community at the time and was having a devastating effect on children and the community at large. Eve’s after program gave children a safe, nurturing, creative space to come to after school. Eve saw first hand the positive effect her program had on children and realized Jump for Joi was a deterrent to drugs, gangs, peer pressure, bullying, violent crimes and othe negative situration children encountered on the streets after school hours.
Today Eve for Jump 4 Joi is continuing its work in building the self-esteem of children, promoting creativity and problem solving, supporting mental and emotional health through art, building communication skills, celebrating cultural diversity and breaking barriers for at-risk children.
Eve is a collaborating partner with “Fashion Future Fest”. A fashion show event dedicated to educate, inspire and show case young designers.
